Wow, could the Four State Food Critic have picked a more
unpronounceable name for this week’s wine selection? Let me translate that for you – “Sensi” is
the winemaker. “Collezione” means “collection”
in Italian. “Montepulciano” refers to
the grape and "d’Abruzzo" translates to “in the region of Abruzzo”, which is in central
Italy, along the Adriatic Sea. See? It’s not that hard once you break it down.

Anyway, the Montepulciano
d’Abruzzo is a fantastic Italian red wine, with nice pepper and spice
notes. The Sensi version is superb and
smooth drinking, with no harsh aftertaste or finish (i.e. very gentle on the
tannins). This wine would go great with roasted lamb, beef, or a nice
lasagna. Of course, the FSFC thinks it
tastes great on its own as well.
The price averages between $8-$15 a bottle, and you may have
to ask your local wine merchant to order it.
They may offer another Montepulciano d’Abruzzo in its place, but trust
me, I think you’ll like the Sensi version the best.
For more information on any of Sensi’s offerings, check them
out www.sensivini.com. (FYI - the site is in Italian, so you'll have some fun navigating it!)
A very good description of this wine, congrats! For sure, it's delicious and worthy to be tasted.
